Presidente Abinader anuncia la mayor compra de equipamiento militar de la historia

Dajabón.- El Presidente Luis Abinader informó este domingo la adquisición y puesta en servicio de un robusto equipamiento militar para garantizar la seguridad en la frontera con Haití, incluyendo reemplazo de 6 helicópteros Huey II, 10 nuevas aeronaves para reconocimiento y vigilancia, así como la creación de un Comando Sur de la Fuerza Aérea en Barahona, entre otras medidas.

Ese aprovisionamiento es complementado con la actualización y modernización de los equipos de radio ayuda para la navegación aérea, nueva torre de control y sistema de luces en la Base Aérea de San Isidro.

El nuevo equipamiento incluye 21 vehículos blindados de transporte de personal y 4 camiones antimotines para modernizar la flotilla del Ejército de República Dominicana. Los blindados, la mayor adquisición de ese tipo de vehículos por parte de los gobiernos dominicanos a partir de 1961, son de última generación, de la marca URO, modelo Vamtac ST5, con capacidad para transportar 9 efectivos y están dotados de armas automáticas para autodefensa.

El mandatario adelantó que las medidas de equipamiento están acompañadas con disposiciones dirigidas a mejorar las condiciones de vida y de trabajo de los soldados que prestan servicios a lo largo de la línea fronteriza, como los integrantes de los batallones 10,11, 14 y 16 de Infantería, que a partir del próximo mes recibirán un incentivo extraordinario mensual de RD 3,500 (tres mil quinientos pesos), adicionales a su salario y a los beneficios que reciban en la actualidad.

El Presidente Abinader informó también que a partir del mes de enero todos los soldados que se realisten recibirán un incremento salarial de 5 %, válido para fines de retiro y como un reconocimiento a sus años de servicio al país, en su condición de espina dorsal de la seguridad del país y de las Fuerzas Armadas.

Anunció además la construcción de un nuevo complejo habitacional para alojar de manera digna y cómoda a 400 nuevos soldados y la remodelación de la fortaleza Beller, en Dajabón, asiento del Décimo Batallón de Infantería de la 4.ª Brigada del Ejército de República Dominicana, que constará de un nuevo hangar para helicópteros y vehículos blindados, comedor, salón multiusos y otras facilidades adecuadas a este tipo de instalaciones.

Los nuevos helicópteros permitirán cumplir efectivamente tareas como reconocimiento y vigilancia aérea, operaciones tácticas, transporte de personal, búsqueda y rescate, evacuaciones médicas, transporte de carga, extinción de fuegos forestales y entrenamiento.

Las medidas muestran un énfasis especial del Gobierno en su determinación de poner control a la entrada ilegal de inmigrantes, resguardar la zona fronteriza y contribuir a formalizar el comercio para beneficio de ambos países, de manera especial en estas circunstancias de inestabilidad del vecino país.

En fecha 20 de febrero de este año el Gobierno inició la primera etapa de una valla fronteriza inteligente de 54 kilómetros, hecha de hormigón armado y estructura metálica, con 19 torres de vigilancia y control, 10 puertas de acceso para patrullaje y 54 kilómetros de caminos para vigilancia y mantenimiento a ambos lados.

La valla fronteriza inteligente tendrá sensores de movimiento y térmicos, cámaras de seguridad y drones de alta capacidad de tipo militar, entre otras características. Será continuada con una segunda etapa que completará una extensión de 173 kilómetros, de un total de 391.6 kilómetros que constituye la línea fronteriza.

Desde su llegada al poder, el Presidente Abinader ha impulsado acciones para regularizar y mejorar las relaciones domínico-haitianas, por lo que ha dejado en claro, incluso ante la Asamblea General de las Naciones Unidas, que si bien los dominicanos somos solidarios con los habitantes del vecino país, la solución de sus problemas son solo de su incumbencia y que nunca habrá solución dominicana a la crisis haitiana.

Las nuevas medidas de equipamiento y control informadas este domingo por el Presidente Abinader se producen luego de reiterados llamados del Gobierno dominicano para que la comunidad internacional tome medidas que contribuyan a resolver la severa crisis haitiana, agravada después del asesinato del Presidente Jovenel Moïse y de que violentas bandas armadas hayan pasado a tomar control de buena parte de ese país.

En su visita a Dajabón, el Presidente Abinader estuvo acompañado por la primera dama Raquel Arbaje; el Ministro de Defensa, teniente general Carlos Luciano Díaz Morfa; el comandante general del Ejército, mayor general Carlos Antonio Fernández Onofre; el director del Cuerpo Especializado en Seguridad Fronteriza y Terrestre (CESFRONT), general de brigada Frank Mauricio Cabrera Rizek; la gobernadora de Dajabón, Rosalba Milagros Peña, y el diputado Darío Zapata.

De igual forma, el alcalde, Santiago Riverón Arias; el director del Politécnico San Ignacio de Loyola, padre José Núñez; el director general de Desarrollo Fronterizo, Ramón Ernesto Pérez Tejada; el director provincial de la Defensa Civil, Luciano Domínguez.

También asistieron, el presidente de la Cámara de Comercio, Quirino Escoto; el de la Unión de Juntas de Vecinos de Dajabón, Blas Hipólito García; el del Consejo de la Cooperativa del Ganadero, Leónidas Ignacio Caraballo; del Clúster Turístico de Dajabón, Carmen Iris Rodríguez; de la Federación de Comerciantes, Freddy Morillo; de la Unión de Centros de Madres, Doris Margarita González, y de la Unión de Pastores, Fermín Taveras.
