Ministro Deligne Ascención anunció la construcción de la carretera El Peñón-Cabral.
El Ministerio de Obras Públicas y Comunicaciones dejó en servicio un nuevo puente construido sobre el arroyo Grande, en la carretera que comunica los municipios de Polo y Cabral, provincia Barahona.
El monto contratado de la obra fue de 32 millones 527 mil 66 pesos con 10 centavos.
Durante el acto de entrega, el ministro Deligne Ascención, al pronunciar su discurso, en el acto de inauguración, destacó que esta obra debe ser medida más que por su inversión, por lo que significa en las facilidades en el diario vivir de las personas que residen y de las que visitan a las comunidades que enlaza.
“No debe ser vista más allá de una simple infraestructura física, como un punto de conexión entre las comunidades que permite a sus habitantes trasladarse de uno y otro lado. Es una obra que beneficia a las mujeres parturientas cuando les llega la hora del parto trasladarse al hospital, a los productores trasladar sus cosechas, a los estudiantes, en fin, a todos los hombres y mujeres de trabajo que transitan por estas vías”, explicó.
Sostuvo que, para los municipios de Polo y Cabral, esta es una obra más grande que cualquiera de las grandes obras que pueda hacerse en otros puntos del país, “porque es la que viene a resolver una necesidad sentida de estas comunidades”.
Ascención, quien tuvo a su cargo el corte de cinta para dejar la obra en servicio, afirmó que el presidente Luis Abinader es un gobernante comprometido con el desarrollo de las comunidades y de la gente.
Detalles de la obra
El nuevo puente entregado por el MOPC tiene una longitud de 10 metros y sustituye a la vieja estructura que se erigía sobre el arroyo Grande en la carretera Cabral-Polo-Barahona.
Una nota de la Dirección de Comunicaciones y Prensa del MOPC destaca que el objetivo de este proyecto es recoger todas las aguas de la lluvia, además de su función como paso vehicular. De esa manera se evitarían inundaciones y /o derrumbes.
Asimismo, los trabajos realizados incluyen remoción de estructura existente, armado, encofrado y vaciado de dentellones, vaciado de hormigón de limpieza en fondo del cajón, varillado, y vaciado de losa de fondo de la alcantarilla.
También, varillado, encofrado y vaciado de muros laterales, y zapata de aletones aguas arriba, del lado de Polo. Desencofrado de muros laterales. Encofrado y vaciado de losa superior, relleno en respaldo de muro de gaviones y de hormigón con equipos menores.
De igual manera, encofrado, varillado y vaciado de dentellón de entrada y salida en losa de entrada y salida. Construcción de muro de gavión, colocación de baranda y pintura de la misma, vaciado de losa de entrada y salida, colocación de asfalto y señalización vial.

Asimismo, el ministro de Obras Públicas anunció que ordenará se realice el levantamiento para la construcción de la carretera El Peñón-Cabral, de 11 kilómetros de longitud, por entender que “ese tipo de obras representa el cambio que representa la nueva gestión de gobierno”. La construcción de esa vía había sido reclamada previamente por el diputado Moisés Ayala.
Hace 23 años esa carretera fue prácticamente destruida por el desbordamiento del río Yaque del Sur tras el paso por el país del huracán Georges, además de que continuó siendo afectada por las embestidas de otros fenómenos naturales que en fechas posteriores tocaron la zona.
De igual manera, el funcionario anunció que el programa Peón Caminero será llevado a la provincia Barahona, con lo que serán beneficiadas decenas de comunidades de esa demarcación.
En nombre de las comunidades beneficiadas, pronunciaron palabras de agradecimiento el diputado Moisés Ayala, por la provincia Barahona; la alcaldesa de Polo, Danilsa Cuevas Féliz, y el dirigente comunitario Apolinar Peña Medrano.
La bendición de la obra estuvo a cargo del sacerdote Bienvenido Turbí Cabrera, párroco de Cabral, y quien también agradeció al MOPC por hacer realidad un viejo reclamo comunitario.
Otros asistentes a la actividad fueron Roberto Herrera, viceministro de Infraestructura Vial del MOPC; José del Carmen Montero, viceministro regional; Nelson Maloney, asesor del ministro; el director de la Comisión Militar y Policial, general Rafael Vásquez Espínola; el alcalde de Cabral, Rafael Ferreras; la diputada Mayra Rubio; el ex senador Dagoberto Rodríguez Adames, entre otros.
