La decisión fue tomada tras evaluar las posibilidades de desarrollo del proyecto con otros cultivos y consensuar con productores y autoridades; como el senador Dionis Sánchez Carrasco y los diputados Edirna D Oleo y Héctor Darío Féliz, quienes manifestaron su inconformidad con la propuesta de siembra de caña.
Asimismo Faña anunció se realizará un saneamiento de los terrenos del proyecto y la rehabilitación de la oficina, recordando que el objetivo del IAD es desarrollar los proyectos de Reforma Agraria.
Dicha reunión fue solicitada por los parceleros de la zona que apoyan la siembra de este producto, quienes no asistieron a la misma.
