Comisión de Energía de la Cámara de Diputados trata tema del impacto que tendría la explotación de hidrocarburos en RD

 Santo Domingo: La Comisión de Energía de la Cámara de Diputados recibió al ex ministro de Energía y Minas, Pelegrín Catillo, para debatir el impacto que provocará en el país la firma del contrato con la empresa estadounidense Apache Corporation para la exploración y explotación de hidrocarburos en la cuenca marítima de San Pedro de Macorís.

En su alocución, Castillo ponderó que este tratado es altamente competitivo porque cambia la ecuación económica del país y que el gobierno no debe escatimar esfuerzos para llevar acabo la exploración de zonas con alto potencial, debido a que de resultar exitoso el hallazgo de petróleo, la inversión alcanzaría unos 100 millones de dólares.
 
Sin embargo, fue enfático en resaltar que el estado dominicano debe avocarse a una política sostenible, usando las tecnologías autorizadas y los actores adecuados por ser un campo de alto riesgo para la inversión.
 
Mientras que el viceministro de Hidrocarburos, Alberto Reyes, manifestó que esta firma representa el primer paso responsable y formar en materia de exploración y producción de hidrocarburos en 30 años, enfocado en la extracción de gas natural, el combustible por excelencia para la transición energética.
 
Se recuerda que Apache Corporation hará una inversión inicial de cinco millones de dólares para la exploración de la cuenca SP2 de San Pedro de Macorís, con posibilidad de elevarla a 13 millones de dólares.
 
El encuentro que estuvo dirigido por el presidente de la comisión Gaddis Enríquez Corporán y contó con la presencia de los diputados Sadoky Duarte, Gregorio Domínguez, Gustavo Lara, Jesús Manuel Sánchez, Orlando Jorge, Ydenia Doñé, Fior Daliza Peguero, Melvin Alexis Lara, Juan José Rojas, Lily Florentino, Nicolás Hidalgo, Francisco Solimán, Rafael Tobías Crespo, Ramón de Jesús Vargas, Julio Alberto Peña y Esteban Antonio Cruz
