Santo Domingo. – Con una inversión de 50 millones de dólares, la Corporación del Acueducto y Alcantarillado de Santo Domingo (CAASD) iniciará la Fase II de Saneamiento Pluvial y Sanitario de la Cañada de Guajimía, del municipio Santo Domingo Oeste, la cual beneficiará a más de 350 mil personas de forma directa.
Para tales fines, el ingeniero Felipe Suberví, director general de la CAASD, suscribió este jueves un acuerdo con la agencia canadiense Canadian Commercial Corporation (CCC).
El funcionario destacó que desde el año 2008 se intentó iniciar la obra, y que es ahora cuando por disposición del presidente Luis Abinader, se hará realidad.
Resaltó que la obra será una solución medioambiental, social y económica que redundará en beneficio de más de 300 mil ciudadanos. “Esto incluye trasladar personas para llevarlas a una vivienda digna, eliminando el área donde está la cañada, para convertirla en un espacio de esparcimiento, al tiempo que también, resolverá un problema sanitario que se ocasiona con la crecida de los ríos que conectan con el drenaje sanitario que va al río”, precisó el funcionario.
Dijo que también contribuirá con el abastecimiento de agua potable, ya que en la misma se instalarán redes y tuberías. En el acuerdo de la institución con la referida agencia canadiense, participaron además del director de la CAASD, la consejera comercial de la embajada de Canadá, Waleska Rivera, así como Cristina Amiama, en representación de Canadian Comercial Corporation, y Elizabeth Tejada, de la Dirección Jurídica.

Para la ejecución de esta obra, la cual impactará positivamente la calidad de vida de unas 350,000 personas de ese municipio, el presidente Luis Abinader, autorizó la inclusión de un millón de dólares en el presupuesto de este año para dar inicio con el estudio de impacto ambiental.

La Fase II de Saneamiento Pluvial y Sanitario de la cañada de Guajimía está contemplada en tres etapas; la primera consiste en la realización de un estudio de impacto ambiental y social, el saneamiento del eje principal del tramo restante de la cañada, la construcción de 344 apartamentos para reubicación de hogares de familias que viven en vulnerabilidad, así como también la ampliación de las redes de agua potable y de alcantarillado en las zonas faltantes del proyecto y obras complementarias de las cañadas afluentes Buenos Aires, El Indio y Las Caobas.
La segunda etapa comprende la construcción de Planta de tratamiento de aguas residuales y obras complementarias en afluentes circundantes
Mientras que la tercera, proyecta la construcción de un emisario submarino y la línea de impulsión desde la planta de tratamiento hasta emisario.
