Santo Domingo.- La subcomisión de la Cámara de Diputados relatoria del proyecto de ley de Código Penal de la República Dominicana, concluyó este viernes la revisión de los 412 artículos de la legislación, promulgada el 20 de agosto de 1884.
Durante un intenso trabajo de 15 días, en sesión permanente, el presidente de la comisión, el diputado Alexis Jiménez y sus miembros examinaron artículo por artículo la legislación que recientemente fue aprobada en primera lectura.
El diputado Jiménez, informó que en este último encuentro, introdujeron el Código conceptos “muy importantes” como el aumento de cuatro a 10 años de la pena por corrupción administrativa grave, además de la imprescriptibilidad de la misma.
Asimismo, explicó que cuando la corrupción sea muy grave, al encartado le será aplicada una sanción de 10 a 20 años de cárcel y su inhabilitación absoluta.
Agregó que otro dato nuevo incluido en el Código Penal es la devolución de cuatro a 10 veces de los valores robados al Estado y la inhabilitación absoluta del funcionario público, cuando la infracción sea muy grave.
“Hoy estamos creando un precedente, la imprescriptibilidad de la corrupción para cualquier funcionario que toque el erario público”, sentenció Alexis Jiménez.
Otro aspecto que también será castigado es la tortura y los tratos degradantes, así como la explotación infantil en materia deportiva, artística y laboral.
Igualmente, será sancionado con una pena de trabajo comunitario el robo famélico, entre otros
Ahora, la subcomisión de la Cámara de Diputados relatoria del proyecto de ley de Código Penal procederá a elaborar el informe final para entregarlo el próximo lunes a la Comisión Permanente de Justicia, que lo revisará y apoderará al pleno de la Cámara de Diputados para su conocimiento y posterior aprobación en segunda lectura.
En el encuentro, realizado en un hotel de la Capital, además del diputado Jiménez, participaron los miembros, José Horacio, Sadoky Duarte, Jesús Manuel Sánchez y Elías Wessin Chávez.
