Providence, Rhode Island. – El presidente de la Junta Central Electoral (JCE), Román Jáquez Liranzo, enfatizó este martes que ese órgano tiene como deber y sagrada misión hacer que los derechos de la diáspora dominicana, de cara al registro civil, a la cédula y de cara las próximas elecciones, sean garantizados en esta gestión.
Jáquez Liranzo habló en esos términos al dejar inaugurada la Oficina para el Registro de Electores (OPREE) de Providence, capital de Estado de Rhode Island, Estados Unidos, donde se trasladó junto a la comitiva que le acompaña a continuar con una agenda de trabajo que inició en Los Ángeles y que le llevará por varios puntos de los Estados Unidos.

También, catalogó como un hecho sin precedentes que la comunidad dominicana residente en Providence pueda tener una oficina de servicios de la JCE, gracias al esfuerzo de hombres y mujeres que durante un tiempo lucharon para que esto fuese posible.

En las OPREE se brindan servicios de cedulación como la cedulación móvil, la reimpresión duplicada y triplicada, y el envío de cédula impresa por mensajería.
También, están a disposición los servicios gratis de empadronamiento para voto en el exterior, proceso de cancelación o revalidación por suplantación, búsqueda en los archivos de cualesquiera de las actas, servicio de captura de datos biométricos, y los demás servicios que ofrece esta área.
