El presidente Luis Abinader tubo el honor de realizar el lanzamiento de la primera bola en el partido entre los Tigres del Licey y los Leones del Escogido celebrado en el Estadio Quisqueya.
Tras realizar el pitcheo, el mandatario resaltó el compromiso del Gobierno dominicano para que se desarrolle con éxito la actual campaña otoño-invernal de la Liga de Beisbol Profesional de la República Dominicana (LIDOM) que contará con 30 partidos en la serie regular que se extenderá hasta el próximo 20 de diciembre.
“Era lo que nos tocaba hacer para que todo el país pudiera disfrutar del beisbol invernal”, expresó el jefe de Estado al referirse al esfuerzo del Gobierno para que la actual temporada fuera posible.
Abinader, quien contó que se crió y jugó pelota junto al exgerente general de los Leones Moisés Alou, dijo que espera honrar desde el Gobierno a los grandes peloteros dominicanos que se han destacado en las Grandes Ligas.
“Espero, en nombre del Gobierno dominicano, en los próximos días reconocer a esos peloteros de edad, estamos trabajando en eso”, reveló el presidente.
