El representante local del Banco Interamericano de Desarrollo (BID) y el ministro de Obras Públicas pasaron revista este miércoles a una serie de proyectos y programas que el MOPC lleva a cabo con la colaboración de la entidad crediticia internacional, en procura de fortalecer y dar continuidad a los mismos.
Así lo manifestó el ministro Deligne Ascención, luego de recibir en su despacho, a Miguel Coronado, representante del BID en el país y a Manuel Rodríguez, representante del sector transporte de ese organismo.
“La visita que nos hicieran los máximos funcionarios del BID en el país, encabezado por su representante, Miguel Coronado, se enmarca dentro del interés que tiene el gobierno que encabeza Luis Abinader, de estrechar sus relaciones con organismos multilaterales, y en este caso específico, con el Banco Interamericano de Desarrollo”, explicó Ascención.
Expresó que en el encuentro se hizo un largo recuento de los proyectos que ellos vienen desarrollando en el país, en coordinación con el MOPC, entre los cuales, podemos citar: El mejoramiento de caminos vecinales, en una iniciativa que tiene por nombre Proyecto Agroforestal, beneficiando a varias provincias de la región Suroeste, como son Independencia, Bahoruco, Azua y Pedernales,.
El funcionario dijo, que en el corto y mediano plazo, la estrategia del organismo financiero internacional en el país contempla también, concentrar su accionar en el fortalecimiento del sector turístico, con la mejora y ampliación del Puerto de Manzanillo, así como con la ampliación de las infraestructuras viales que interconectan esa importante terminal del país.
“También conversamos sobre el desarrollo de Pedernales, en donde el BID está interesado en apoyar al Estado dominicano a través de la mejora de la infraestructura vial, no solamente de Pedernales, sino también, de todas las carreteras que bordean el lago Enriquillo, para producir una conectividad entre estos puntos”, indicó.
Dijo que se conversó sobre un proyecto que el BID viene apoyando en la parte de tecnología, en torno a las carreteras del país, para en caso de desastres naturales, hacer un levantamiento rápido a través de un software y tener una cuantificación de los daños en tiempo real.
Consideró que esta es una propuesta muy importante para el país, porque nos permitirá tener un inventario de las condiciones de la infraestructura vial y permitirá desarrollar programas de inversión a corto, mediano y a largo plazo.
El funcionario informó que otro aspecto que trataron durante la conversación con la mision del BID fue el de desarrollar un proyecto de mitigación de los impactos de los accidentes de tránsito en el país.
En el encuentro Ascención se hizo acompañar de Onéximo González, asesor general del MOPC y del director de la Unidad de Proyectos internacionales, Cristian Borrero.
