Tras abandonar la Fiscalía, la ministra no hizo declaraciones, pero su abogado dijo que compareció «de forma grata» ante las autoridades, que investigan el origen de su patrimonio y la relación de sus empresas con el Estado.
La ministra solicitó el pasado lunes una licencia del cargo, sin percibir salario, para facilitar una investigación de la Fiscalía y para «defender su honor» en calidad de ciudadana.
La decisión de Taveras fue anunciada horas después de que la Pepca informó de que abrió una investigación de oficio en relación a la ministra.
Al asumir el cargo, la titular de la cartera de Juventud declaró poseer un patrimonio de 74 millones de pesos en la declaración jurada que presentó a la Cámara de Cuentas.
La semana pasada, la Dirección General de Contrataciones Públicas (DGCP) anunció la suspensión del registro de proveedores del Estado de la ministra y, del mismo modo, abrió una investigación para determinar si sus empresas se han beneficiado de contratos públicos.
La DGCP confirmó que Taveras figura como proveedora del Estado con dos empresas, una que tiene su nombre y otra, el Colegio Domínico Chino, del que es gerente administradora y poseedora del 75 % de sus acciones.
El pasado 8 de octubre, la DGCP anunció la suspensión de la consideración de proveedor del Estado a 119 funcionarios, en concreto a 113 alcaldes y regidores, a dos jueces y a otros cuatro funcionarios.
La legislación establece que los funcionarios de primer y segundo nivel de jerarquía, entre los que figuran, ministros, viceministros, directores y subdirectores, alcaldes y regidores, no pueden ser oferentes ni contratar con el Estado para suplir bienes, obras y servicios a las instituciones gubernamentales.
