Luis Abinader Presidente de la República designó a la diputada reelecta por la provincia Santo Domingo, Josefa Castillo como la nueva Superintendente de Seguros, en sustitución del actual incumbente Euclides Gutiérrez Félix.
Castillo fue por varios periodos diputada al Congreso Nacional y miembro del Consejo Nacional de la Magistratura, cargos a los que tendrá que renunciar una vez asuma como titular de la entidad reguladora de las operaciones del mercado asegurador en la República Dominicana.
Aunque hasta el momento el Partido Revolucionario Moderno (PRM) no ha enviado las ternas para proceder a su sustitución, el párrafo 3, de artículo 77 de la Constitución dominicana establece que: “Los cargos de senador y diputado son incompatibles con otra función o empleo público, salvo la labor docente”.
Formación y vida
Josefa Castillo, nació en la comunidad de Andrés Boca Chica, República Dominicana, un jueves 23 de Abril. Hija de los señores Pedro Julio Castillo Soriano y Dolores Rodríguez de Castillo.
Graduada de licenciada en Psicología de la Universidad Autónoma de Santo Domingo (UASD), en el año 1988; realizó un Post-Grado en Educación en el Instituto Tecnológico de Santo Domingo (INTEC), 1998; un Post-Grado en Administración de Recursos Humanos en el Instituto Dominico Americano (ICDA); un Diplomado en Legislación y Técnicas de Seguros en la Universidad Autónoma de Santo Domingo (UASD), 2001, y otro en Manejo Terapéutico de las Difusiones de la Familia y la Pareja, Universidad Católica Santo Domingo (UCSD), 1995.
También cursos como Administración de Personal en el Instituto Superior de Administración y Mercadeo, 1986; Protocolo de Estado y Ceremonial Diplomático en la Universidad Católica Santo Domingo (UCSD), 2001; Ampliación de Pruebas en la Selección de Personal en Psicología Industrial Dominicana en el 1986; Curso Taller “La entrevista en la Selección de Personal, Universidad Autónoma de Santo Domingo (UASD), en el 1989; Relaciones Humanas y Oratoria, Universidad APEC en el 1986, entre otros.
Por otra parte, ha desempeñado varias funciones como: Encargada de Recursos Humanos en Servicios Tropicales, C. X A., (igualas), 1987 hasta 1989, Psicóloga de Trastornos de Aprendizaje y Conducta en el Consultorio Privado, Ave. Las América, Andrés Boca Chica, 1992-2000, Encargada de Recursos Humanos de la Superintendencia de Seguros de la República Dominicana en el año 2000.
Asimismo, ha sido catedrática en la Universidad Académica Militar del Caribe desde 1999 hasta el año 2000, además de coordinadora de Psicología y Orientación en la Escuela Vitalina Mordan de la Cruz, en el año 1996 hasta el 2002. Se incluye también la función de directora administrativa en el Centro Psi-Pedagógico “Las Palomitas”, de Andrés, Boca Chica en el año 2000 hasta 2002.
Autora de más de una veintena de iniciativas en el plano legislativo, como los proyectos que crea el programa de educación sexual integral obligatorio en el ámbito de la Secretaría de Estado de Educación; el que regula la publicidad en las instituciones del Estado dominicano; y el que crea la licencia de conducir escolar; ley que oficializa la licencia de conducir como documento público, para realizar todas las operaciones públicas y privadas, exceptuando el derecho al voto, entre otros.
Representó recientemente a la Cámara de Diputados ante el Noveno Congreso Dominico-Americano en Atlantic Cit, New Yersey.
Pertenece a las comisiones permanentes de: Equidad de Género, Educación, Dominicano en el Exterior, Presupuesto.
Castillo es madre de tres hijos: Omar, Jheyson y Ámbar García Castillo y tutora de tres niños: Wagner, Dismely y Dilandy Castillo.
