Santo Domingo. – La Corporación del Acueducto y Alcantarillado de Santo Domingo (CAASD) informa que mantiene activo el Comité de Emergencia ante el paso de la tormenta Grace por territorio dominicano, para enfrentar de manera oportuna los efectos que pueda dejar en los sistemas de abastecimiento de agua potable.
El ingeniero Felipe Suberví informó que la CAASD vigila la trayectoria del fenómeno atmosférico que, de acuerdo con pronósticos del Centro Nacional de Huracanes de Miami, se fortalecerá antes de entrar a la República Dominicana la madrugada de este lunes.
El funcionario dio instrucciones al Comité de Emergencia a estar vigilante ante cualquier eventualidad de Grace, con el objetivo de preservar vidas y garantizar el suministro de agua potable en el Gran Santo Domingo, antes, durante y después del paso del fenómeno.
Subervi llamó a los ciudadanos que viven en zonas vulnerables a tomar medidas de precaución ante posibles desbordamientos de ríos, arroyos y cañadas cercanas.
“Nuestras brigadas de mantenimiento de red de agua y alcantarillado sanitario, técnicos y operarios tienen instrucciones precisas para actuar ante situaciones de emergencia, cumpliendo así con los protocolos de prevención establecidos”, expresó el director de la CAASD.
“Para prevenir y mitigar posibles daños que puedan ocasionar las lluvias que deje a su paso la tormenta Grace, hemos dispuesto de nuestro personal para dar continuo seguimiento a la evolución de esta tormenta, hemos colocado un representante ante el Comité de Presa (Copre), estamento que toma las decisiones operativas de los embalses y las presas en situación de emergencia”, precisó Suberví.
De igual manera, se mantiene el monitoreo de las presas Valdesia y Jigüey, ya que estas son las fuentes de abastecimiento al Acueducto Valdesia-Santo Domingo. “La Caasd vigilará en las próximas horas los volúmenes almacenados de agua y los que, según los pronósticos, se esperan deje Grace a su paso”.
Por la gran cantidad de agua que podría recibir el país producto de la tormenta, se prevé incremento en la turbidez del agua en los ríos Haina, Isabela, Ozama, Duey Isa-Mana y Nizao, por lo que, desde ya se dispone de suficiente sulfato de aluminio y cloro gas para los procesos de potabilización del agua.
