Santo Domingo.- A pesar de la pandemia, el Instituto Nacional de Tránsito y Transporte Terrestre (INTRANT), continúa con la intervención y adecuación de espacios viales con la finalidad de ofrecer un ambiente seguro a estudiantes cuando retornen físicamente a la escuela, con la implementación del programa “Entorno Escolar Seguro” que esta vez se llevó a cabo en el centro educativo Emma Balaguer de Vallejo, ubicado en Las Palmas de Herrera, Santo Domingo Oeste.
El objetivo principal de la medida, encabezada por el director ejecutivo del INTRANT, Rafael Arias, es prevenir y disminuir el riesgo de accidentes de tránsito en entornos escolares, ya que tanto el peatón (estudiante en su gran mayoría), como el conductor que circula en las cercanías deberá acogerse a las señalizaciones de tránsito que dan prioridad al estudiante.
Tanto el titular del INTRANT como el director de Educación Vial de esa entidad, Mélido Agramonte, la directora de la Escuela Nacional de Educación Vial (ENEVIAL), Miguelina Acosta, agentes de la Dirección General de Seguridad de Tránsito y Transporte Terrestre (DIGESETT) y miembros del plantel educativo Emma Balaguer analizaron el correcto funcionamiento de la señalización que consta de una etapa horizontal y otro vertical.
La primera de éstas contempla el paso de cebra, la pintura en el pavimento y el bordillo y la segunda, los reductores de velocidad, los indicadores de límites de velocidad y el aviso de zona escolar.
Además de la seguridad o protección al transeúnte, cabe resaltar que ese tipo de iniciativa tiene un componente extra, que va más allá de la oportuna señalización.
“Nos gustaría que las autoridades y profesores del centro utilicen esas señales para dar un mensaje a los estudiantes, a los padres y a todo el que circule por la zona, de que debemos respetar las señales y normas de tránsito. Es el mensaje fundamental que quisiéramos que ustedes transmitan a la población, porque de nada sirve que no se reconozca el sentido y la importancia que tienen esas señalizaciones de tránsito”, profundizó el director ejecutivo del INTRANT, Rafael Arias.
En ese mismo sentido, Arias especificó que, conjuntamente con otras autoridades relacionadas, continuará haciendo de los entornos escolares un espacio seguro en lo adelante.
El programa Entorno Escolar Seguro forma parte se las acciones que ejecuta el INTRANT en cumplimiento de la Ley 63-17 de Movilidad, Transporte Terrestre, Tránsito y Seguridad Vial de la República Dominicana, en un trabajo coordinado con la DIGESETT, el MOPC, autoridades de los distritos escolares del MINERD, las asociaciones de padres y las alcaldías; y a la fecha lleva diversas implementaciones
