Santo Domingo.- La Oficina de la Defensa Civil recibió este martes la visita del embajador de Finlandia para República Dominicana y el resto del Caribe, el señor Pertti Ikonen.
El diplomático estuvo acompañado de la señora, Sanna Tavi, Attaché de la embajada; la subdirectora Katja Karppinen-Njock; el señor Mikko Salonen, asesor senior de Bussiness Finland, y representantes de empresas de base tecnológica del país nórdico.
El presidente de la Comisión Nacional de Emergencias (CNE) y director ejecutivo de la institución de socorro, Juan Salas, destacó durante la visita, lo importante de contar con sistemas de alerta temprana fiables y precisos para disponer de información que permita la articulación en todo el territorio y salvar vidas y propiedades. Salas también destacó los esfuerzos que vienen realizando para fortalecer el rol de las gobernadoras, alcaldes y directores municipales, y alcanzar una alineación de sus planes y proyectos que aporten a los objetivos de desarrollo sostenible y reducción de riesgo de desastres.
De su lado el embajador Ikonen, felicitó a la institución y a sus miembros por el reciente reconocimiento por parte del Ministerio de Administración Pública (MAP), como la tercera institución del Estado con mejor desempeño en relación a los Objetivos de Desarrollo Sostenible (ODS). También, destacó el nivel de desarrollo alcanzado en su país, en ciencia y tecnología, aplicados a los sistemas de alerta temprana multiamenazas, integración y comunicación de información masiva, para la toma de decisiones en el territorio, especialmente con sistemas de radar multipropósito e imágenes satelitales.
Tras la reunión el representante del gobierno de Finlandia y sus acompañantes pudieron conocer parte de las instalaciones de la Defensa Civil, dentro de estas, la operatividad del Sistema Integrado Nacional de Información (SINI).
