El PLD escogerá este domingo a su nueva dirigencia durante el IX Congreso Ordinario José Joaquín Bidó Medina, acto que supone una apuesta por la renovación de la organización tras el varapalo electoral de julio pasado después 16 años en el poder.
Unos 2,500 delegados están convocados al encuentro, que permitirá dar paso a una nueva cúpula, incluida la Presidencia de la formación, actualmente en manos de Temístocles Montás.
Entre los objetivos del cónclave está definir la teoría oficial y los principios que sustentan la razón de ser del PLD, fijar la línea política estratégica nacional e internacional, establecer los estatutos de la formación, así como dar acta de la elección y proclamar a los nuevos miembros del Comité Central.
Bajo el lema “Hacia la Transformación y el Fortalecimiento de la Identidad Partidaria”, el evento será el precedente de una gran plenaria de proclamación de las nuevas autoridades que tendrá lugar el 15 de diciembre, fecha del aniversario del partido.
Bautizado con el nombre del miembro ad vitam del Comité Político de la organización José Joaquín Bidó Medina, el IX Congreso Ordinario se desarrollará en el Pabellón de Voleibol del Centro Olímpico Juan Pablo Duarte de Santo Domingo a partir de las 10.00 de la mañana.
Durante la actividad, el PLD responderá a “las graves imputaciones” vertidas el pasado jueves por el presidente de la República, Luis Abinader, durante el discurso televisado que dedicó en buena parte a acusar al actual partido opositor de prácticas corruptas en sus periodos de gobierno.
El resultado de las elecciones del 5 de julio, donde el candidato peledeísta Gonzalo Castillo obtuvo al 37,48 % de los votos supuso un duro golpe para el PLD, que llevaba cuatro mandatos seguidos al frente del Ejecutivo, primero con Leonel Fernández y luego con Danilo Medina.
La retirada de la confianza de la ciudadanía, que dio el 52,53 % de sus votos al Partido Revolucionario Moderno (PRM), otorgando la Presidencia a Luis Abinader, ha llevado a apostar por la renovación de la formación que se materializará en este congreso.
Además de los delegados, el acto contará con una representación de los partidos aliados del PLD en las pasadas elecciones, invitados especiales y una representación de la Junta Central Electoral (JCE) para observar la plenaria.
Son delegados en el Congreso los presidentes de Comités Intermedios, Municipales, Provinciales, de Circunscripciones Electorales, de Seccionales y los miembros del Comité Central y Político.
El acto de apertura, en el que se aplicará el distanciamiento que recomiendan las autoridades de salud del país y las orientaciones de la Oficina Panamericana de la Salud (OPS), estará presidido por la comisión organizadora del evento.
La integran Cristina Lizardo, Alejandrina Germán, Melanio Paredes, Abel Martínez y Andrés Navarro, Margarita Pimentel, Frank Olivares, Armando García, José Laluz, Thelma Eusebio, Jhonny Pujols, Zoraima Cuello, Juan Ariel Jiménez, María de los Ángeles Cruz (Clara) y Esperanza de Dios Ramírez, Danilo Díaz y Miriam Cabral y los integrantes del Comité Político.
