1496. El Adelantado Bartolomé Colón, hermano del descubridor de América, funda la ciudad de Santo Domingo, en la parte oriental del río Ozama.

1533. El enviado especial del emperador Carlos V de España, a la Hispaniola, Francisco Barrionuevo, informa a la corona haber llegado a un acuerdo de paz con el cacique Enriquillo (Guarocuya), sublevado contra la dominación española desde el 3 de diciembre de 1522.

1848. El general Pedro Santana renuncia a la presidencia de la República por motivos de salud y se retira a su hacienda de El Prado, aunque se atribuyó al período agitado que se vivía en ese período. Lo sustituyó Consejo de Ministro del Poder Ejecutivo.

1865. Los generales Eusebio Manzueta y Marcos Evangelista, tras pronunciarse en contra del gobierno de José Antonio Pimental, nombran a José Ma. Cabral Protector de la República, con plenas facultades para ejercer el mando supremo.

1946. Un movimiento sísmico de gran intensidad causa daños de importancia en Santo Domingo, San Francisco de Macorís, Nagua y Matanzas, esta última arrasada por un maremoto.

1947. La Asociación Reivindicadora Dominicana del exilio aclara que los siete aviones que supuestamente estaban preparados para despegar desde la Florida para cooperar con el movimiento revolucionario dominicano, eran propiedad del dictador Rafael Trujillo.

1952. Muere el doctor Américo Lugo, quien mantuvo una firme oposición a la dictadura de Rafael Trujillo.

1961. Dirigente y simpatizante de la Unión Cívica Nacional, se reúnen en el Parque Independencia, donde cantan el Himno Nacional y gritan “abajo los Trujillo”, “Santo Domingo sí, Ciudad Trujillo no”.

1965. Representantes del Gobierno Constitucionalista presidido por Francisco Caamaño, inician conversaciones con los miembros de la Comisión Ad-Hoc de la OEA, para buscar una salida a la crisis iniciada el 24 de abril de este año.

1976. El Servicio Secreto de la Policía Nacional apresa y acusa la cantante del Movimiento Cultural Universitario (MCU) Ana Celia Lantigua, de pertenecer al grupo clandestino “Los Trinitarios”, durante un allanamiento a su residencia en la calle Magnolia del Ensanche Espaillat, acción en la que también fue detenido un hermano suyo.

2000. Un tribunal condena al general retirado Joaquín Pou Castro, Rafael A. Lluberes Ricart, Mariano Cabrera Durán y Luis E. de la Rosa Beras, a 30 años de prisión y el pago de una indemnización de RD$20 millones, por el asesinato del periodista Orlando Martínez en 1975.

2008. En lo que se conoce como “La Masacre de Paya”, siete hombres son acribillados, (cuatro de ellos de nacionalidad colombiana, dos venezolanos y un dominicano), en un cañaveral del paraje Ojo de Agua, Baní, mientras un nicaragüense identificado como Holy Gómez, sobrevive a la ejecución.

2014. Fallece en Santo Domingo, el empresario Luis Manuel Pellerano, ex presidente de la Asociación Dominicana de Zonas Francas.

– Fallece en la ciudad de Nueva York, a la edad de 66 años, el científico dominicano Erick E. Kunhardt Grullón.

2015. La Segunda Sala de la Cámara Civil, Comercial y de Trabajo del Juzgado de Primera Instancia del Distrito Judicial de Barahona dispone la nulidad del acta de nacimiento del señor Willian Medina Ferreras, basada en que la misma fue instrumentada sobre bases falsas.

2016. Cuatro personas resultan heridas durante un asalto perpetrado por un hombre al mensajero Richard Hernández, de la tienda La Sirena ubicada en la Charles de Gaulle en Villa Mella, cargando con al menos RD$1.4 millones, cuya autoría fue posteriormente atribuida al piloto y exteniente EN, John Percival Matos, hijo del general retirado Rafael Percival Peña.

1578. Batalla de Alcazarquivir entre musulmanes y portugueses, en la que pereció el rey Sebastián de Portugal.
