SANTO DOMINGO. – La Cámara de Diputados aprobaron la modificación del artículo 7 de la ley 5994, del 12 de diciembre de 1962 que crea el Instituto Nacional de Aguas Potables y Alcantarillados (INAPA).
La modificación de la iniciativa en lo adelante establece que el Director Ejecutivo, será el representante legal y órgano ejecutivo del Consejo de Administración y deberá ser un profesional de reconocida capacidad.”
El proyecto de ley de modificación, que ahora pasa al Poder Ejecutivo para su promulgación contó con 114 votos favorables y tres en contra.
También fue modificado el artículo 22 de la Ley 5994, donde se tipifica el fraude, quien sea acusado de fraude, quien sustraiga intencionalmente o se apropie de agua servida, para su propio beneficio o el de terceros.
Se penaliza la manipulación, instalación o manejo clandestino de medidores y/o acometidas, y cualquier otro elemento material de la red de distribución.
Además, se considera fraude la conexión directa al sistema de suministro de agua, sin que haya un contrato previo de servicio con el Instituto Nacional de Aguas Potables y Alcantarillados (INAPA).
De igual forma también se penaliza la auto conexión al sistema de suministro de agua, luego de haber sido suspendido por falta de pago a facturas vencidas, teniendo la obligación el Instituto Nacional de Aguas Potables y Alcantarillados (INAPA), una vez haya sido efectuado el pago, restablecer el servicio de suministro de agua dentro de las 24 horas.
