Diputado Ángel Estévez deposita proyecto de ley busca crear Banco de Leche Materna a nivel nacional

Con el objetivo de garantizar alimentación a los prematuros o neonatos que lo necesiten en todo el país, el diputado de La Vega por el Partido de la Liberación Dominicana (PLD), Ángel Estévez, depositó un proyecto de ley que persigue crear un Banco de Leche Materna, con presencia en todas las provincias de República Dominicana. 

El legislador precisó, además, que esta iniciativa tiene la finalidad de proveer de ese alimento a todos los recién nacidos recomendado por prescripción médica, y que por causas mayores no pueden ser amamantados por su propia madre, o si bien la progenitora no ha conseguido todavía suficiente cantidad de leche.

Asimismo, explicó que este gran proyecto consiste en que el Banco de Leche  Materna tenga presencia en las 31 provincias del país y el Distrito Nacional, a través de un servicio 24/7, y totalmente gratuito.

Resaltó que la leche donada conserva componentes biológicos con efectos inmunomoduladores y antiinflamatorios: «No solo es un alimento, realmente es un elemento protector contra enfermedades, como evitar la enterocolitis necrosante, protege de las infecciones nosocomiales, los niños la digieren más fácilmente y le aporta  un mejor neurodesarrollo, entre otros beneficios».

Finalmente,  el  diputado Ángel Estévez precisó que el proyecto contempla incentivos en bonos a las mujeres donantes, ya que la Organización Mundial de Salud (OMS) reconoce que el mejor alimento para los niños es la leche de su madre.
