Boston vence a los Warriors para poner el 2-1

Los Boston Celtics han vuelto a tomar la delantera en las Finales. Los de Udoka se impusieron por 116-100 en el Game 3 para colocarse con una ventaja de 2-1 en el global, lo que les deja a solo dos triunfos de coronarse como campeones tras un partido en el que dominaron con claridad prácticamente de principio a fin. Los Warriors amenazaron con remontar con su clásico gran tercer cuarto, pero esta vez fue insuficiente para doblegar a un equipo que ha demostrado una infinita capacidad de respuesta.

Boston no ha perdido dos partidos seguidos en lo que llevamos de playoffs, y nada más comenzar el choque dejaron claro que dicha racha no iba a acabar esta madrugada. Guiados por un sensacional Jaylen Brown, que anotó en el primer cuarto 17 puntos, los locales se hicieron pronto con una ventaja de dos dígitos, algo en lo que fue también fundamental su gran defensa. El trabajo en las marcas y en las ayudas por parte de los de Udoka fue fantástico durante prácticamente toda la noche, obligando a Stephen Curry y Klay Thompson a realizar una exhibición de canastas lejanas para mantener a los suyos a flote.

No obstante, de poco les sirvió en una primera mitad en la que Golden State no encontró manera de frenar las internadas de los Celtics hacia el aro. La ausencia de verdaderos intimidadores en el quinteto pequeño de Kerr dejó vía libre a los de Massachusetts para atacar con frecuencia la zona de los visitantes, que no fueron capaces de poner remedio a este problema en toda la noche y terminaron encajando 52 puntos en la pintura. Influyó también la forma tan férrea en que Robert Williams cerró la pintura, pues ello permitió a los defensores perimetrales pegarse más a los tiradores a sabiendas de que el aro estaba bien protegido. Con sus 4 tapones y 10 rebotes, el pívot se hizo amo y señor de la zona, y logró tener un enorme impacto a los dos aros pese a sus a priori no llamativos 8 puntos.

De esta forma, el amago de remontada de Golden State ocupó apenas un pequeño porcentaje de un duelo dominado casi íntegramente por Boston. El mejor funcionamiento defensivo y la mayor organicidad de su ataque dieron a los de Udoka un triunfo relativamente holgado con el que responder al Game 2 y volver a colocar el balón en el tejado de los Warriors, que afrontarán el cuarto encuentro sabiendo que una derrota les pone contra la espada y la pared.
