En los primeros dos años facilitará la apertura de cuentas bancarias a más de un millón de dominicanos
El Banco de Reservas informó que en los próximos dos años se propone dotar de una cuenta bancaria a más de un millón de dominicanos, como parte de su programa Bancarizar es Patria, que busca fomentar la inclusión y la democratización de los servicios financieros.
El programa también tiene como prioridad bancarizar y promover la educación financiera, de manera que los ciudadanos puedan usar de manera sistemática productos y servicios bancarios, como son canales alternos, préstamos y tarjetas de crédito y débito, entre otros beneficios.
Durante la primera etapa de Bancarizar es Patria se podrá acceder a productos de ahorros con costos mínimos para la apertura, indicó la institución financiera.
Agregó que mediante esta iniciativa se crearán, además, soluciones digitales, innovadoras e inclusivas, que permitan la apertura inmediata de cuentas de fácil acceso y uso simplificado.
Con este programa, Banreservas apuesta a la democratización de los servicios financieros que favorezcan los sectores de la población más vulnerables de la República Dominicana, para fomentar una cultura financiera inclusiva, apoyando al Estado en la dinamización de la economía social.
Precisó que estas acciones buscan respaldar la Estrategia Nacional de Educación Económica Financiera (ENEEF), la de Inclusión Financiera (ENIF) y los programas especiales del gobierno, tendentes a garantizar que todos los dominicanos puedan tener acceso a productos y servicios financieros; y en consecuencia a mejorar su calidad de vida.
Desde hace varios años la entidad bancaria tiene en marcha el programa Preserva, destinado a promover una cultura de ahorro para facilitar el bienestar económico sostenible, con lo cual ratifica su compromiso de contribuir a bancarizar la
población, como parte de los Objetivos de Desarrollo Sostenible (ODS) y al Pacto Global de las Nacionales Unidas, al cual está adherido.

Estimaciones de la institución indican que a fines del 2020 más de tres millones de dominicanos mayores de 18 años no estaban incluidos financieramente dentro del sistema formal de la banca. Además, el 53.7 % de la población carecía de un producto de ahorro o crédito en entidades financieras privadas, de acuerdo al Informe de Encuesta Nacional de Inclusión Financiera del 2019.
Estas estadísticas refuerzan el propósito de Banreservas al crear Bancarizar es Patria, para desarrollar una propuesta de inclusión financiera integral y sostenible, que permita el acceso a productos y servicios financieros, para propiciar la posterior bancarización de la población.
