Dijo que la inflación acumulada en el país durante el último año en el reglón de alimentos y bebidas no alcohólicas asciende a un 9.8% en general y en algunos productos los incrementos superan el 60%, lo que refleja el pobre desempeño que han mostrado las autoridades para mantener a raya los precios de los alimentos de primera necesidad.
“El impacto que representa para la población la espiral alcista de los precios de los alimentos se ve potencializado por la pérdida de ingresos económicos que ha sufrido una parte de las familias dominicanas a consecuencia de los despidos y suspensiones laborales motivadas por la pandemia de COVID-19, afectando por partida doble su capacidad de adquirir los alimentos de primera necesidad. Lo anterior sugiere la posibilidad de que el país experimente un incremento del hambre y la subalimentación, significando un retroceso en el plano de la seguridad alimentaria”, expresó Peralta.
Refirió que hay factores internacionales que vienen presionando al alza los precios de los alimentos, como es el caso de los incrementos en las cotizaciones internacionales de los principales insumos y materias primas utilizados en la producción agropecuaria y en el procesamiento de los productos alimenticios, tales como los fertilizantes, el petróleo y los granos básicos.
Indicó que la inflación alimentaria acumulada desde agosto del pasado año en el país supera la casi totalidad de los países de América Latina, con excepción de Venezuela, Argentina, Brasil y Paraguay, lo que sugiere que, en el caso dominicano, además de los factores externos también hay factores internos que han contribuido a elevar los precios de los productos alimenticios; entre estos destaca la caída de la producción, la especulación comercial, la falta de planificación de las importaciones y la estacionalidad de algunos rubros.
Así mismo, dijo que lo datos de Proconsumidor muestran que entre agosto 2020, hasta junio 2021, la carne de res, cerdo, pollo fresco y los huevos han sufrido alzas del 38%, 31%, 16% y 24% respectivamente; mientras que el arroz, las habichuelas rojas y el plátano barahonero las alzas alcanzan el 6%, 14%, 5%. Los productos procesados como el aceite de soya, el salami, el azúcar y la sopita, sus alzas rondan el 66%, 21%, 9% y 50%, respectivamente.
Precios del pollo
Al ser cuestionado sobre el alza del pollo, señaló que sus costos de producción se han incrementado en los últimos meses, en gran medida por los incrementos de las cotizaciones internacionales del maíz y de otros insumos utilizados en la producción avícola.
