Santo Domingo. – La Alcaldía del Distrito Nacional (ADN) y el Colegio Médico Dominicano (CMD) rindieron un homenaje póstumo en memoria de los médicos dominicanos fallecidos durante la lucha contra el COVID-19.
En un acto solemne, que contó con la presencia de la vicepresidenta de la República y lideresa del Gabinete de Salud, Raquel Peña, así como de médicos y familiares de los fallecidos, se reconoció la excelente actuación del personal de salud en la primera línea de respuesta, y fueron destacados como munícipes distinguidos del Distrito Nacional médicos y médicas, enfermeros y enfermeras y auxiliares, por sus continuos esfuerzos en la lucha contra el coronavirus.
De su parte, la alcaldesa Carolina Mejía, exaltó la ardua labor realizada por los médicos y resaltó que su heroísmo será siempre recordado.
“Nosotros admiramos profundamente la labor que todos realizan y que en este año ha adquirido la relevancia que hoy aquí reconocemos en los caídos. A los familiares de nuestros médicos, que hoy desde el cielo acompañan todo el trayecto y todo lo que se está haciendo en favor de la población, solo le pido a Dios que les siga dando consuelo”, manifestó Mejía.
Más de 40 profesionales de la salud han perdido la vida por COVID-19, según detalló el presidente del Colegio Médico, Waldo Ariel Suero, quien además se solidarizó con los familiares de los fenecidos.
“Estos colegas se nos fueron muchos a destiempo, muchos jóvenes. Hoy como una manera de reconocer, porque no tenemos otra forma que no sea solidarizarnos con la familia, haber hecho el esfuerzo mientras estuvieron batallando entre la vida y la muerte”, sostuvo Suero.
En un emotivo discurso en representación de los fallecidos, el doctor Luis José Castillo Viñas (hijo) honró la memoria de su padre fallecido por coronavirus, el también doctor José Castillo, así como la de cada profesional que ha perdido la vida en esta pandemia.
“Perder tantos colegas médicos comprometidos, es devastador, pero hoy vamos a recordarlos con alegría por sus esfuerzos heroicos e inspiradores. En un principio de la pandemia todo era desconocido e incierto, y pese a todos los temores, el personal de salud, no dudó en responder… No ha sido fácil… Nosotros los que estamos aquí nos levantamos cada día para seguir batallando, somos una profesión de vocación, una familia”, fueron las palabras de Castillo.
La distinción al personal de salud está contenida en la Resolución número 20-2020, emitida y aprobada por la alcaldía.
Estuvieron presentes en el homenaje Víctor Ogando, presidente del Concejo Municipal, Stalin Alcántara, vicealcalde del Distrito Nacional, Dr. Rafael Mena, presidente de Asociación Nacional de Clínicas Privadas (Andeclip), Edisson Feliz Feliz, director del Servicio Regional de Salud, superintendente de Salud y Riesgos Laborales, Yokasta Lara, subdirectora del Servicio Nacional de Salud, y Carolina Serrata, directora de la Dirección General de Información y Defensa de los Afiliados a la Seguridad Social (DIDA).
