El Senador de la provincia Duarte, Franklin Romero, exhortó este sábado a los dominicanos a recordar con verdadero sentimiento patriótico a los forjadores de la República Dominicana, al conmemorarse este 27 de Febrero, el día de la Independencia Nacional.
El legislador Romero, se pronunció en esos términos al colocar una ofrenda floral en el busto del patricio Juan Pablo Duarte en la sede de la Oficina de Gestión Senatorial con motivo de celebrar el 177 aniversario de nuestra fiesta patria.
Romero, dijo que nuestros libertadores el 27 de Febrero de 1844, con Juan Pablo Duarte y el resto de “La Trinitaria” lograron la Independencia de la República Dominicana como Estado soberano con un cañonazo desde la “Puerta del Conde”, en Santo Domingo e izaron la bandera tricolor que dejó constituida la Soberanía Nacional.
“Quiero exhortarle a cada dominicano y de manera especial a los residentes en la provincia Duarte, a celebrar este 27 de febrero recordando el juramento de los Trinitarios, pero con un auténtico pensamiento patriótico”.
El Senador Franklin Romero, en sus palabras de agradecimiento a todos los presentes en la ofrenda al patricio, sostuvo que como legislador, la independencia Nacional hoy previo al 27 de febrero, forma parte de la fiesta histórica de nuestra dominicanidad por lo que debemos celebrarla con uno de sus grandes pensamientos cuando expresó, “Sed justos lo primero, si queréis ser felices, ese es el primer deber del hombre y sed unidos, y a si apagareis la tea de la discordia y venceréis a vuestros enemigos, y la patria será libre y salva”.
En la actividad las palabras de bendiciones estuvieron a cargo del reverendo Aridio Vicioso, quien elevó una plegaria a la memoria de los forjadores de nuestra Independencia Nacional, resaltando también su valentía para lograr la liberación de los haitianos en contra de este pueblo.
El orador invitado fue el profesor Roberto Santos Hernández, quien habló de la lucha realizada por los padres de la patria hace 177 años.
En el acto patriótico estuvieron presentes las principales autoridades encabezada por el Senador Franklin Romero, la Gobernadora de la provincia Duarte, Xiomara Cortés Marte, el alcalde municipal Siquió, Ng de la Rosa, el sacerdote Aridio Vicioso, entre otras personalidades.
