El director ejecutivo del Instituto Nacional de Aguas Potables y Alcantarillado (INAPA), Wellington Arnaud, dejó iniciados, a un costo superior de RD$15 millones, los trabajos de rehabilitación de la planta de tratamiento de agua potable del municipio de Jánico, en la provincia de Santiago.
El funcionario destacó que esta obra brindará un servicio de calidad, cantidad y presión.
También se pondrá en funcionamiento la planta de filtración lenta de 40 litros por segundo y se repararán el tanque superficial de hormigón armado de 850 metros cúbicos y las averías en la línea de conducción. Además, se ampliará la cobertura hacia zonas altas que no reciben el servicio.
Arnaud destacó que el ingeniero Enrique Vásquez, quien ganó la licitación de la obra, tiene el 20 % de los recursos y que en los próximos meses Jánico y sus distritos municipales tendrán agua potable 24/7.
Resaltó que, dando cumplimiento a la promesa del presidente de la república, Luis Abinader, de llevar agua potable a cada hogar dominicano, el INAPA ha aumentado 50 millones de metros cúbicos del líquido al mes; es decir, casi 50 millones de galones diarios.
“Con esto hemos llegado a 700 mil dominicanos, pero cada mes hemos ido aumentando unos 100 mil galones la producción mensual de agua”, dijo.

El director ejecutivo del INAPA, Wellington Arnaud, sostuvo sendos encuentros con juntas de vecinos y autoridades del municipio Bisonó (Navarrete) y el distrito municipal La Canela para escuchar sus inquietudes con relación al suministro de agua potable.
En la reunión con munícipes de los sectores El Túnel, Piedra Gorda y otros de La Canela, el funcionario indicó a su equipo técnico realizar un levantamiento para instalar el sistema de suministro de agua.
Mientras, a los moradores de Guanábano, El Túnel y Cañada Bonita, de Navarrete, Arnaud explicó que el tema de las fuentes en esas zonas ha sido complejo, pero que un equipo del Departamento de Hidrología del INAPA dará soporte y asesoría al ayuntamiento para lograr concluir los proyectos financiados por el gobierno central.

En ese sentido, el director del INAPA destacó que, a su llegada a la institución, el municipio de Cotuí solo estaba produciendo 180 litros por segundo; pero que, de inmediato, su equipo técnico realizó un recorrido para evaluar las fuentes y lograr aumentar la producción a 360 litros por segundos, al precisar que el objetivo es llevarla en los próximos meses a 600 litros.
Wellington Arnaud destacó que ha visitado nueve (9) veces la provincia de Sánchez Ramírez, junto con su equipo técnico.
En el encuentro con las juntas de vecinos de Sánchez Ramírez estuvieron presentes la gobernadora Cristiana Rodríguez; Odalis Medina, en representación del senador Ricardo de los Santos; el coronel José Francisco de la Cruz Mercedes, comandante policial de Cotuí, entre otras personalidades.
