Rafael Devers, estrella en ascenso en Medias Rojas

David Ortiz, el jugador más importante que han tenido los Medias Rojas debido a su producción y el éxito que tuvo el equipo durante su estancia en Boston, tenía 27 años cuando llegó a los Patirrojos proveniente de los Mellizos. Rafael Devers, el bateador más completo que ha tenido el club desde Ortiz, no cumple 26 años hasta octubre. Si Devers se queda en el Fenway, es capaz de ser ese tipo de jugador. Y ya tiene un anillo de Serie Mundial con su nombre.

Así de talentoso es Devers. Si goza de buena salud esta temporada, será una de las revelaciones más jóvenes en Grandes Ligas al momento de cumplir 26 años, que será más o menos cuando se dispute la próxima Serie Mundial.

Por el Fenway Park han pasado muchos bateadores zurdos Salones de la Fama, pese a la presencia de un Monstruo Verde en el jardín izquierdo que da la impresión de poder tocarse desde el plato: Ted Williams, Carl Yastrzemski, Wade Boggs, Ortiz. En octubre del año pasado, en dos series contra los Rays y Astros, detonó cinco bambinazos y tuvo 12 remolcadas y 13 hits en 10 partidos. Como el Big Papi, ha demostrado ser el tipo de jugador que se crece en los momentos grandes.
